Brooks Automation is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to work in our Chelmsford, MA headquarter in Greater Boston, supporting the development of semiconductor manufacturing solutions. Brooks provides automation solutions for chip manufacturing globally. Among many technological areas, we design and build precision robots and systems for wafer handling. This role offers excellent opportunities for technical growth and interdisciplinary collaboration.
What You Will Do:
Base Salary Range: $76,526.52 USD to $103,535.88 USD
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

Brooks Automation is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to work in our Chelmsford, MA headquarter in Greater Boston, supporting the development of semiconductor manufacturing solutions. This role offers excellent opportunities for technical growth and interdisciplinary collaboration.
What You Will Do:
- This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring product safety programs and policies for the Brooks semiconductor products (including vacuum and atmospheric robots, vacuum cluster tools, EFEMs, etc.).
- Ensures compliance with government, customer focused, and industry health and safety laws and guidelines throughout the product lifecycle.
- Conducts and oversees safety and compliance reviews and evaluations of new and existing products.
- Creates test plans for new and updated products.
- Works with cross-functional teams to create and maintain product risk assessments and address hazard mitigations.
- Provides recommendations to product-related safety escalations, and/or accidents and work with teams to devise plans of action. Conduct training for other groups within the organization to aid in awareness and design for compliance.
- Evaluate products to relevant functional safety standards (i.e. ISO 13849-1, ISO 10218).
- 2 to 5 years of experience with machine safety standards and industry guidelines such as EN/IEC 60204-1 and NFPA 79. Semiconductor equipment and SEMI S2 experience is preferred.
- Experience using risk assessment methodologies outlined in ISO 12100. Experience with SEMI S10 is preferred.
- EMC testing experience is preferred.
- Cyber Security experience is preferred.
- Associate's Degree with equivalent experience. Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in an Engineering related subject area is preferred.
