Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer to support a high-tech electronics manufacturing operation in Milpitas, CA. This position will provide hands-on EHS leadership and technical support across manufacturing, engineering, facilities, and operations.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of EHS experience with direct experience supporting electronics or electrical manufacturing operations. This industry experience is a key requirement for the position.
The EHS Engineer will help strengthen existing safety programs, provide guidance to less-experienced EHS team members, conduct risk assessments and incident investigations, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and California-specific environmental and occupational safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day EHS support within an electronics/electrical manufacturing environment.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety programs.
- Conduct routine facility inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk assessments.
- Support and maintain programs related to:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Machine safety and guarding
- Electrical safety and electrical hazards
- Job (JHA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and risk assessments
- Confined space
- Emergency preparedness and response
- Ergonomics
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT)
- Aerial Work Platforms (AWP)
- Hearing conservation
- Working at heights
- Lead or support incident investigations utilizing structured root-cause analysis methodologies such as 5-Why and Fishbone analysis.
- Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to identify hazards associated with equipment, processes, and facility operations.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) activities and evaluate EHS risks associated with new or modified processes and equipment.
- Oversee EHS requirements for contractors and vendors working within the facility.
- Maintain required EHS documentation, records, metrics, and regulatory reporting.
- Support environmental compliance programs involving hazardous waste, chemicals, air emissions, and stormwater.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Provide EHS training and technical guidance to employees, supervisors, engineers, and manufacturing leadership.
- Serve as an experienced EHS resource within the facility and help strengthen overall safety awareness and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
- 5+ years of professional EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Direct EHS experience supporting electronics or electrical manufacturing operations is required.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with manufacturing equipment, processes, and production teams.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Experience with electrical safety, LOTO, machine safety, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, facilities, and operations.
- Must be able to work onsite in Milpitas, CA.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Cal/OSHA and California environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of California requirements involving hazardous waste, air, stormwater, and chemical management.
- Experience supporting ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 programs and audits.
- Experience with Management of Change (MOC) and contractor EHS oversight.
- EHS or safety-related professional certifications.
- Strong background conducting risk assessments and developing corrective/preventive actions.
